Overview

Veeco’s Malaysia location is seeking a technically sound applications engineer to help develop and research new applications. Veeco is well positioned with strong teams, differentiated thin-film process technologies, and an entrepreneurial culture that supports customer product development and employees’ career growth.

The primary objective of this role is to support process qualification for incoming tools, develop and optimize applications under guidance, and assist with customer-facing activities. The applications engineer will also identify opportunities for Veeco to add value through new product development and enhancements to existing products aligned with our core technologies.

In this role, the applications engineer will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to build technical capability.

Responsibilities

• Supports process setup, data collection, and troubleshooting.
• Assists in experiments, process trials, process BKM and customer demos under guidance.
• Maintains a working knowledge of Ion Beam systems process, hardware and relevant diagnostics, plans, implements and controls measure to enhance system performance.
• Monitors process performance and escalated process issues, supports root cause analysis.
• Prepares basic reports and data summary, supports system qualification and validation.
• Assists in customer training activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Chemistry, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience with thin-film technologies or related equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must be able to travel to the USA and within the Asia region ~30% of the time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• A good understanding of thin film deposition process and hardware is desirable.
• A positive team player, self-motivated with strong analytical skills.
• Experience in semiconductor customer process support is preferred.
• Clear communication, good spoken and written communication skills in English.
