Field Application Engineer

Role Summary – Field Application Engineer (FAE)

This role supports Teradyne Semiconductor Test Business, focusing on:

 

• AI / HPC (High Performance Computing)
• Mobile Application Processors (MAP)
• MCU (Microcontroller Unit)

 

Core Mission

• Deliver test application solutions
• Provide technical support to semiconductor customers (manufacturers / fabless companies)
• Act as a technical interface between Teradyne and customers

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Solution Development

• Design and implement test application solutions
• Solving complex digital test problems
• Apply strong fundamentals in:
  • Digital electronics
  • Test methodologies

 

2. Customer Support & Engagement

• Work directly with:
  • High-complexity semiconductor device customers
  • Design companies (e.g., fabless)
• Provide:
  • Technical troubleshooting
  • Application optimization support

 

3. Independent Problem Solving

• Work with general direction (low supervision)
• Independently:
  • Define problem-solving approaches
  • Develop solutions
• Deliver outputs reviewed at:
  • Milestone checkpoints (not continuous supervision)

 

4. Innovation & Complexity Handling

• Handle wide range of difficult test issues
• Deliver solutions that are:
  • Practical
  • Thorough

 

Basic Qualifications

1. Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Computer Engineering / Computer Science

 

2. Experience & Skills

Mandatory / Core

• 3+ years of Test Application Engineering experience
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to:
  • Document clearly
  • Present technical content effectively

Preferred Skill Level

• English: Intermediate or above
  • Project Management: Intermediate or above

 

3. Technical Knowledge

(1) Electronics

• Strong Digital Signal knowledge

 

(2) Test Engineering Knowledge

Mandatory

• Digital Testing

Optional / Preferred

• Mixed-signal test experience
